PLANT - WNPS’ Preserving Land and Nature Trust, was set up with the aim of acquiring privately owned lands for the purpose of conservation (outright or on a long-term lease) and to collect funds through the Trust, to purchase lands for the purpose of conservation. Sustainable forest-grown Ceylon tea brand Kaley Teas will be partnering with WNPS on this ground-breaking PLANT initiative.
CJS has been a supporter of WNPS for over 3 years since 2019 and more recently partnered with WNPS on our 125th anniversary celebrations in hosting Saba Douglas-Hamilton, the Kenyan wildlife conservationist and television presenter. During her visit to Sri Lanka, Mrs. Douglas-Hamilton visited the CJS Dutch Hospital store and was presented with a unique elephant pendant along with the first work in a limited-edition range of pendants numbering just 125 pieces; created especially by CJS to commemorate WNPS’ 125 th anniversary. All proceeds from the sale of the special pendants were directed towards WNPS for their work on conservation of Sri Lanka’s flora and fauna.
Continuing its commitment to environmental stewardship, Nations Trust Bank recently renewed its partnership with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS). The Bank signed an agreement to become the sole sponsor of WNPS’s publications – ‘LORIS’, ‘Warana/Varanam’ biannual magazines and ‘The Jungle Telegraph’ quarterly newsletter in addition to funding the organization’s Monthly Lecture series.
The Wildlife & Nature Protection Society (WNPS) partnered with Wildlife Conservation Society of Galle
(WCSG) in sponsoring a solar electrical system for the Station, which will be the main energy source for
all activities.
