KNUCKLES WORLD HERITAGE SITE

The Society has conveyed its concerns over the illicit felling of trees and the continued cultivation of Cardamons within the Knuckles range, the newly inscribed World Heritage Site.

The Conservation General of Forest informed us that there are private owned land holdings within the range and procedures are in place to pay compensation and acquire such land. He said till such time, the felling of trees have been prohibited unless with his prior approval.
